Young Mahendra played with an old bat; he was a hard hitter from the early days and would not just cause damage to the ball but also wear down his bat. He could be seen using a tape to give it strength to last another few games. His close friend Chintu who owned a sports shop tried his best to convince a bat manufacturer to sponsor his kit.

Chintu called him on several occasions and even made a visit to tell him how good this boy Dhoni was. But it was only after he scored a double century opening the batting for his school that the entire city takes notice. He gets an offer to switch job and the bat manufacturer who Chintu was trying to convince sends him the kit.

As soon as Dhoni looks at it, he rushes to Chintu’s shop and says “Bhaiya kit aayagai,”(Brother I have received my first kit) both the friends have tears in their eyes as they hug each other and all those watching also could sense numbness in their eyes.
