A Letter to AB De Villiers from a Cricket Lover:

Dear De Villiers,

I saw you in tears today after the match and could not control my tears, seeing the person weep that has provided you millions of reasons to smile is a massively depressing moment for a fan. It will be unfair for me to say that I can relate to your feelings right now but I am sure you will be totally disgusted and must be wondering what a cruel place this world is.

The missed run-out opportunity of Corey Anderson will be haunting you for sure and you will be considering yourself solely responsible for the loss of the team. As a passionate fan, I DON’T WANT YOU TO BLAME YOURSELF for this tragic loss and get over it as soon as possible, I am sure it won’t be easy but you got to admit you and your team gave their 100% effort which is the most important thing. A few things here and there and result of the match would have been totally different but it just wasn’t your day and the all mighty wanted them to prevail. Don’t curse yourself for the things you can’t control.

AB you are a terrific player on the field and an absolute gem of a person off the field, other captain could have easily blamed rain interruption for the loss but you did not, some would have said dropped catches cost us the game but you simply said the better team won and thanked the audience. The words you spoke in the press conference epitomize what a gem of a human being you are and the respect for you among the fans would have grown geometrically.

You are easily the best batsman and the best fielder in the world right now and more importantly the name Abraham Benjamin De Villiers brings smile to the face of millions of Indians, you have entertained all of us like no other foreign player has done ever before and you are the most loved player among us. Your switch hits, reverse hits vanishes the stress of the daily life and gives a unique joy to every cricket aficionado of the world.

Tough times come in every man’s life and this might be the toughest for you, a lot of things must be going through your mind should I have done this or should I have done that, this bowling change or a field placement would have won us the match but remember ‘TIME HEALS EVERYTHING’ as a true fan my advice to you will be to just stop thinking about cricket right now. Go out with your partner, watch movie or play games on the play station do anything besides cricket just switch off from the cricket for a few days.

The more you will think about the game the more that loss will bite you, so just try to forget whatever happened on the pitch like a nightmare.

There is a saying, god always plans good things for good people and remember Sachin had to wait for 22 long years to win his maiden World Cup title so perhaps god has written a similar script for you. You are a champion cricketer AB and I am sure you will come roaring back in the IPL, to show the world you are not done yet!
