Australia have proved they are already winners says Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir has always been one of the most outspoken personalities when it comes to cricket. The Delhi-lad has never let an opportunity go to talk his heart out. He has always been to the point and does not mind if he is politically incorrect.

He has been in news lately for reasons apart from cricket but still remains one of the best openers India has produced. India have actually struggled to find the opener of his caliber after dropping him. He did make a comeback against England in the Test series but failed to impress.

Gambhir was once again busy talking his heart out at the Hindustan Today office. He was asked various questions and he answered them with utmost honesty. Gambhir was asked about the incident with Shahid Afridi and his answer was as hilarious as it can get. The Indian opener said that Shahid Afridi can get as old as he can but his brain will always remain that of a 16-year-old.

Gambhir said, “Umar unki 28 saal kyu na hojaye, dimag unka 16 saal se bada hota hi nahi hai,” (Even if his age is 28 his brain will always be that of a 16-year-old). Always the one who gives the reporters with headlines, Gambhir was at it again during the interview.

Gautam was asked about getting the team together during the IPL where he said that it is hard to get the team together. He said “There are different ways, for me, it is difficult for you to get together as a team. For me, I think it should be about how to win the tournament rather than think about next year.”

The fierce opener has been very aggressive on the field and has been involved in various fights with the players, Gambhir was asked about the on-field aggression. He said that it is okay to be aggressive because you know once the game is done everything is going to be fine. “Even if I have to be aggressive or play aggressively or fight with the opposition, I am fine because I know things are not going to be like that and I am going to get back into a happy dressing room.”

Gautam was asked about the ongoing Test series between India and Australia and he said that Australia are already winners because everyone thought they will lose 4-0 but after three Tests they are 1-1. He also stated that many of the cricketers thought it was going to be like that but Australia have proved them wrong.

He said “When they started this tour everyone was thinking it’s going to be 4-0. I think most of the cricketers whether it was Harbhajan Singh or even Sourav said it was going to be 4-0. But after the first three Test matches if you are in this situation then I think Australia have already proved that their winners in this series.”
