Ben Duckett is currently contracted to the Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League. Misbah-ul-Haq’s men were champions in the previous edition of the PSL and are touted to lift the title once again. However, this time around, the final of the league, as intimated by one and all would be played in Pakistan. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore was touted to be one of the venues for the same.

However, today’s bomb blast that took place in the area killing an approximate seven people and wounding several others, the final once again seems to be one of those things that is off the table at the moment. Of course, they plan on having another edition of the draft in the upcoming days, but this would certainly dent their hopes of playing the final in the country.

As Ben Duckett would also go on to tweet soon after, the blast could very well see the match moved backed to Dubai. This would also mean that the dearth of international cricket in the country is once again going to be hit with a major blow as the Pakistan Cricket Board’s plans to bring international cricketing superstars to the country has been smashed to the pulp.

There are a plethora of exciting players in the PSL such as Shane Watson, Brad Haddin, and even Chris Gayle, and it would be a shame indeed not to see them play cricket in Pakistan.

A tweet from Ben Duckett read: “Thoughts and prayers go to all injured in the Lahore attack shocking news! time to get the PSL Final in Dubai.”
