Before the commencement of the second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Quetta Gladiators franchise have made the news. Pace bowling coach Ian Pont was the in-charge of the franchise as the team’s bowling coach in the inaugural season. He took to the social media to express his disappointment at the poor management of the team.

Pont was specifically unhappy at the fact that he was removed from his role without even being informed. The unprofessional attitude from the Quetta Gladiators did not go down well with the bowling coach. Apparently, he got to know about the news through the social media. His disappointment was evident as he wrote a big post on Twitter.

Well, in all fairness, the post seemed legit and so did his disappointment. In his tweet, he mentioned, “I have just found out on social media, that I have been replaced as Assistant and Bowling Coach for 2016 PSL Runner’s up, Quetta Gladiators.”

He further wrote that he respects the decision made by the franchise but is unhappy with the unprofessional attitude. He remarked, “I do find it highly unprofessional not to have been contacted by anyone from Quetta Gladiators about this beforehand and only to discover the fact from a tweet by Abdul Razzaq who has been roped in as my replacement.”

He further expressed that the last moment news has left him with no option and can’t apply anywhere else. “Worse still, it is extremely late for me to approach another franchise in PSL and had I been told what Quetta was planning. I could have at least had the chance to do so. The HBLPSL is a really good competition and it was Shahid Afridi who personally advised me to go into it. I hope it goes from strength to strength,” said Ian Pont.

A very professional Pont further wished the Quetta Gladiators for their 2017 campaign. He wrote, “Putting my own disappointment aside, I wish Abdul very well in his new role. I am sure the fans will welcome him. Perhaps he can go one better and help win the PSL and we ought to have done in 2016. Cricket is rife with poor communication and muddled thinking. However, remaining professional is a prerequisite regardless,” said Ian Pont.
