The Trinbago Knight Riders would be ruing the fact that they allowed Guyana Amazon Warriors off the hook in the first qualifier. However, all’s not lost for them as they will now play St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the second qualifier at Brian Lara Stadium at Tarouba in Trinidad. The Patriots, on the contrary, have won three matches in a row and are brimming with confidence.
In their last match, they got out of jail after the required rate escalated to nearly 13 with ten overs remaining. Chris Gayle’s men played a couple of matches against the Knights at the very venue and lost one match. They would dearly wish to win the match and play their second final in succession. The Knights, on the other hand, will want to somehow get back to winning ways.
Pitch
The venue will host its first match of this season’s Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Only four contests have been played at the ground out of which three have been won by the team batting second. Hence, it won’t spring a surprise if teams opt to bowl first after winning the toss. Dew is likely to play a massive part in the result of the match. The Knights will want to get back to winning ways.
Team Combination
Trinbago Knight Riders
The Knights won’t be making any change despite their defeat. Sunil Narine and Brendon McCullum are the openers followed by the in-form Colin Munro. Denesh Ramdin and Colin Ingram also need to step. The onus will also be on the spin-trio of Narine, Fawad Ahmed, and Khary Pierre to restrict the opposition. Ali Khan and Dwayne Bravo are the fast bowlers
Predicted XI
Sunil Narine, Brendon McCullum, Colin Munro, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Colin Ingram, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Kevon Cooper, Fawad Ahmed, Khary Pierre, Ali Khan
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots
The Patriots won’t be making any changes following their win against Jamaica Tallawahs. Devon Thomas and Chris Gayle will be persisted with as the openers. Evin Lewis is likely to be sent higher up the order from the previous match. The likes of Anton Devcich and Fabian Allen’s role will be important. The bowling lineup consisting of Ben Cutting and Tabraiz Shamsi will need to step up as well.
Predicted XI
Devon Thomas (wk), Chris Gayle (C), Rassie van der Dussen, Evin Lewis, Anton Devcich, Fabian Allen, Brandon King, Ben Cutting, Carlos Brathwaite, Hayden Walsh, Tabraiz Shamsi
Probable top performers
