The second game of the doubleheader on Sunday will be huge as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at home. The two sides are placed next to each other in the IPL 2024 points table and are firm favourites to make it to the playoffs.

Lucknow Super Giants just like Kolkata Knight Riders have defeated Mumbai Indians in their last game. KL Rahul and his side have played 10 games so far won six games and lost four matches.

While most of the player are fit to take the field, LSG have been dealt a huge blow. Pace Mayank Yadav who got injured on his comeback to the team has been ruled out of the season. This should not bother Lucknow as they have the firepower with the ball against a very strong Kolkata Knight Riders side.

Here is the likely Lucknow Super Giants XI for their game versus KKR in IPL 2024:

Openers: KL Rahul and Arshin Kulkarni

After the constant failures of Quinton De Kock, the LSG side decided to go in with young Arshin Kulkarni at the top of the order. The move didn’t work in the game against Mumbai as the young batter was out for a duck.

KL Rahul meanwhile, has been in decent nick with the bat and will look to put the disappointment of missing the Indians team for the T20 World Cup behind him. The 32-year-old has been pivotal in giving his team a good start in the last few games and has batted well at the top of the order.

Middle-order: Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, and Ashton Turner

Lucknow Super Giants are blessed to have Nicholas Pooran on their side. The West Indian star has been in top form with the bat in the last few months. His form has also carried forward into the IPL where his crucial knocks have helped his team win key moments in the game.

The role of Ayush Badoni and Ashton Turner will be to play the finisher’s role towards the back end of the innings. Both batters have the game to put the opposition out of gear with their smart batting and big-hitting skills.

All-rounder: Marcus Stoinis. Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya

Marcus Stoinis has been the player to watch out for from the LSG camp in the last few matches. If he isn’t firing with the bat it is his bowling skills which come to the fore and help his side win the matches from difficult positions.

The return to the LSG playing XI for Deepak Hooda has been great. The out-of-favour Indian star has been able to score crucial runs. Deepak Hooda is also more than a useful spin bowler and can bowl a few overs and curtail the run flow.

It has been a solid season for Krunal Pandya who will want to catch the fancy of the Indian selector. The 33-year-old has been economical with the ball in hand and has also picked crucial wickets for his team.

Bowlers: Ravi Bishnoi, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Mohsin Khan

Afghan seamer Naveen-ul-Haq will lead the pace bowling unit yet again as he has been very consistent with the ball. His economy rate too has been decent in the last few games. Mohsin Khan will be the Indian pacer who will be leading the bowling charge for Lucknow Super Giants against the free-scoring KKR team.

Ravi Bishnoi who missed out on World Cup selection will use this as a motivation to do well with the ball. The 23-year-old spinner will play a crucial role against the likes of Rinku Singh and Andre Russell who are very good players of spin.
