Delhi Capitals' (DC) star opener David Warner has named two promising young batters from the franchise who have stood out to him in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) season. Despite DC's stumbling campaign, sitting at the bottom of the points table with just three wins and five losses, Warner noted the impressive performances of these young talents.

Warner said that his DC teammates Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abhishek Porel have impressed him this season. He particularly praised Porel for his remarkable unbeaten knock of 32 runs off just 10 balls during the match against Punjab Kings, which DC lost by four wickets.

"Jake has been good. He always had the talent. Also, Abhishek has been really good. During that game against Punjab, he had an opportunity to bat as an impact player and he got like 30 something in nine balls (32* in 10 balls). He is going to be a great player. On the other day against SRH, he played well (scoring a quickfire 42 in run chase of 267 runs)," Warner told media.

Australia's young batter Fraser-McGurk has been in scintillating form, amassing 140 runs in three games at an impressive average of 46.66 and an astounding strike rate of 222.22. He notched up the fastest fifty of the ongoing IPL 2024, achieving the remarkable feat in just 15 deliveries. Porel, on the other hand, has accumulated 148 runs in seven matches at an average of 29.60 and a strike rate of over 162 with a best score is 42.

Warner commented on the Impact Player rule in the IPL, emphasizing that its significance lies in how teams adapt to it while also highlighting its role in maximizing the potential of players on the bench.

"But it is taking all-rounders out," he cautioned about the Impact Player rule.

"Wickets been good, flat, very hard. It is not limited to Bengaluru only, now in Hyderabad, Kolkata as well. Hyderabad has always been a great surface," he said while speaking about the high-scoring IPL games this year.

He went on to speak about his team's performance thus far, acknowledging that they are not at the level they aspire to be, emphasising the need for improvements in both batting and bowling departments. Delhi's next fixture is against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on April 24.

"We got to win the remaining games for qualifying for playoffs. Sometimes, they miss their mark and execution. If we get wickets early, we are a very dangerous bowling unit. We have a very great bowling attack," the 37-year-old said further.
