In a long-awaited turnaround, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally notched a victory, securing a 35-run win against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, RCB’s decision proved crucial in gaining an upper hand over SRH.

Virat Kohli led the charge for the visiting team, with notable contributions from other batters, particularly Rajat Patidar, who dazzled with a splendid 50 off just 20 balls with two fours and five sixes, helping RCB post a formidable 206 runs on the scoreboard.

However, Kohli faced a barrage of criticism on social media for his performance. While some lauded his anchor role, others lambasted his strike rate, deeming it a potential issue for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Cameron Green also contributed significantly with a brisk 37 off 20 deliveries. Despite the formidable total, it appeared insufficient initially at the halfway stage.

However, unlike their previous outings, RCB’s bowlers delivered a stellar performance. Will Jacks struck early, sending Travis Head back. Though Abhishek Sharma displayed aggression, his departure after scoring 31 off 12 balls initiated a collapse.

Towards the end, Pat Cummins showcased his prowess, scoring 31 runs off 15 balls. Nevertheless, it proved to be an insurmountable task. Shahbaz’s unbeaten 40 runs provided a glimmer of hope, albeit strike rate concerns lingered. Despite the victory, RCB find themselves at the bottom of the table, with SRH retaining the third spot.
