Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have roped in Sridharan Sriram as the assistant coach for the forthcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to complete their backroom staff for the IPL 2024.

It is worth mentioning that the staff will be led by former Australia head coach Justin Langer and global mentor Gautam Gambhir. In addition to that, Vijay Dahiya and Pravin Tambe will continue their roles in the setup as the assistant coach and spin bowling coach, respectively.

Meanwhile, South Africa duo Morne Morkel and Jonty Rhodes too retain their roles as the bowling coach and fielding coach, respectively. LSG took to their social media handle to share their latest recruit and expressed their delight on his inclusion for the next season of the lucrative T20 league.

“Sridharan Sriram brings with him extensive coaching experience. In his tenure with the Bangladesh men’s national T-20 team, he skilfully led them to secure two remarkable victories in the Super-12s of the (2022) T-20 World Cup. RPSG Sports and Lucknow Super Giants are thrilled to welcome the seasoned coach and looking forward to an exciting journey ahead!” shared LSG on their website.

Sridharan has prior experience with Langer during his tenure with the Australian team. After joining the Aussie coaching set up in 2015, he shifted focus on his role as the assistant coach, specializing in batting and spin bowling with IPL side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2022.

Following the conclusion of the IPL 2022, he was entrusted with the responsibility as the head coach of the Bangladesh team for both the Asia Cup 2022 and the 2022 T20 World Cup. Notably, the IPL 2024 mini-auction is likely to take place in late December with a few changes with regards to the franchises’ purse, as per reports.

The BCCI will likely increase the purse to INR 100 crore for the upcoming auction and the franchises will be allowed to make as many retentions as they like, while the rest of the players will go under the hammer. The date for the auction is likely to be decided following the conclusion of the eagerly-anticipated 2023 ODI World Cup.
