Mumbai Indians (MI) will take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in match 67 of the 17th edition of the IPL 2024 on Friday, May 17, at the Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai. This will be the last IPL match in this stadium this year. The Indians are out of the race for playoffs. In the ongoing tournament, the Indians have won four matches and lost nine games. They are currently placed ninth in the points table. Thus, MI would like to get back to their winning momentum.
On the other hand, Super Giants have been victorious in six matches and have ended up on the losing side in seven games. At this moment, they are in the seventh place in the points table. Hence, the visitors of the upcoming fixture would also like to get back to their winning momentum. Indians would like to take revenge for the last match of these two teams held at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, in Lucknow earlier. Speaking about the last game of MI, Ishan Kishan 40(22) and Tilak Varma 32(17) played superb innings but failed to convert their start into a huge match-winning innings. Indians lost these two at the wrong time. They didn't get support from the other batters. Speaking about the bowling of Indians, Piyush Chawla (3-0-28-2) bowled superbly which helped Indians to restrict Knight Riders to 157 in rain-affected 16-over game. Anshul Kamboj (3-0-24-1) and Jasprit Bumrah (4-0-39-2) bowled well and gave good support to Chawla. Indians will hope that all these will continue their good form and expect good support from other batters, especially top-order batters.
When it comes to the last game of LSG, After the early top-order collapse, Nicholas Pooran 61*(27) played magnificent Innings which kept the Super Giants in the game for a while. But the Super Giants lost him at the wrong time. In the end, Arshad Khan played fantastic Innings and scored not only his first IPL fifty but also his first T20 fifty.
His Knock kept the hope of Super Giants till the final over but unfortunately, he was not able to finish the match. They didn't get support from the other batters. Speaking about the bowling of Super Giants, Ravi Bishnoi (4-0-26-1) bowled beautifully which helped Super Giants to restrict Capitals to 208. But he didn't get support from the other bowlers.
