At 46, Brad Hogg’s impressive comeback into cricket has been a well-documented one. However, while every match would certainly seem to be one of his last, the southpaw has refused to consider any match to be his last especially given the fact that he is an old dog. However, the fire seems to still be prevalent in his belly as he is relishing a new challenge in the form of the new Big Bash League season in 2017.

“At this stage I’m looking to go again next year in the Big Bash and hopefully I can play a couple of other T20 tournaments around the world too,” Hogg told The Sunday Times on Sunday (February 19). “But if that doesn’t eventuate, I’ll look at a new training program to make sure I’m match-ready for the BBL next year.”

Hogg also added a few words about Ashton Turner, the batsman who made his much awaited T20I debut at the MCG against Sri Lanka.

“I think a lot of teams will be after him … he can hit a boundary at the end of an innings, he can bowl in the first six overs and he’s also one of the best fielders going around in Australia,” he said. “He’s got all three facets in the game and I really enjoy watching him, so I think he’s one that could be a dark horse.”

Hogg, who played for the Renegades, went ahead and stated that he had no regrets about leaving the Perth Scorchers. “It was a great opportunity to have… and see how there are a few differences compared to the west,” he said. “To be able to play in two Melbourne derbies — Stars v Renegades — it was awesome, especially 72,000 at the MCG on a rain-affected night followed by a packed house at Etihad.”
