I hope Mayank plays for India soon says DD teammate Yuvraj Singh: Delhi Daredevils all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has said that his team-mate Mayank Agarwal is a “great talent” and that he hopes Mayank gets to play for the Indian national team soon.

Yuvraj Singh was quoted by iplt20.com saying, “I think Mayank was brilliant. He is a great talent. I have been talking to him from the start of the IPL and he played really well in the last game. He played really well in this game too; he is maturing and I hope he plays for India soon,”

The Delhi Daredevils ended their 11-match losing streak with a five-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab, in Pune on Wednesday. Mayank Agarwal who hit 68 off 48 balls and Yuvraj Singh, who scored 55 off 43 balls was the chief architect of DD’s much awaited win. Chasing a target of 166, Agarwal and Yuvraj stuck a match winning 106-run partnership which got Delhi Daredevils their first win in the IPL 2015.

“As long as you have wickets in hand you are in a good position. Mayank gave us a good start and in the first six overs if you don’t lose more than two wickets then you are in a good position to finish the game. And luckily for me I could take the game till the end along with Mayank and seize our first win,” Yuvraj added.

Asked about the partnership and their conversation in the middle, Yuvraj said, “We were talking about what the wicket is like and how we are going to play certain kind of bowlers and it worked well for us. We had good communication over there. We needed one good partnership to get the game to the end and we got it. I think the wicket was a bit sticky at the start. I think it was a good toss to lose and it (the pitch) became better while batting second.”

While talking to iplt20.com Mayank, who was declared as the Man-of-the-Match for his great knock said, “After the end of the over, Yuvraj and I would discuss plans. We discussed which bowler we were going to target and we were discussing whether we were on track.

“When you have got wickets in hand, it gives us the leverage to chase the target. We arrived at a stage where we knew we had a good base and we could go after the target. Our plan at the start was clear. We were not going to go after Mitchell Johnson immediately but until and unless we had a measure of him, we would target him,” he added.
