After a disastrous 4-0 loss in the Test series, England have got themselves a chance to redeem themselves against the hosts India in the 3-match ODI series followed by a 3-match T20I series. England have been ruthless as far as their batting is concerned ever since their elimination from 2015 World Cup and are gearing up to continue their domination on Indian soil gaining some confidence recording their first win of the tour in a warm-up game before this series.

India will play their first series after MS Dhoni’s stepping down as the limited-overs captain and Virat Kohli taking the charge. Here we look at all the stats related to the teams and approaching milestone to be watched out for in the coming series.

1.933 – India’s win-loss ratio in ODIs against England at home. They won 29 ODIs out of the 45 played against England and lost 16. One ODI ended in a tie.

2 – Number of captains under whom MS Dhoni has played in any format (FC or List A or T20) since becoming Indian captain in all formats in 2008 after Anil Kumble’s retirement. He played a game in CLT20 under Suresh Raina in 2012 and 7 games under Varun Aaron in 2015 Vijay Hazare Trophy. Virat would become the 3rd player to lead Dhoni since then.

4 – Number of spinners who took less than 100 ODIs to complete 150 wickets. If Ravichandran Ashwin takes 8 wickets in this series, he will become the 5th fastest spinner to take 150 ODI wickets.

4.67 – India’s win-loss ratio in ODIs under Virat Kohli. Team India won in 14 games out of the 17 he captained and lost in only 3. Kohli’s win-loss ratio as captain is the 2nd best in ODIs among skipper who have led in more than 10 games and best for any India captain. Shane Warne has a win-loss ratio of 10 as Australia lost only 1 game under him and won 10 out of the 11 matches.

8 – Number of bilateral ODI series India won against England. Out of the 17, that both the teams faced each other, 7 were won by England while 2 ended at levels.

29 – Number of players in ODIs who have scored 1500 runs and took 150 wickets so far. Ravindra Jadeja needs 3 more wickets to join the list which includes only 4 Indians.

50 – Number of wins India have in ODIs against England. Out of the 93 they played against England, India lost 38 ODIs with 2 ending in a tie. 3 ODI got washed out without a result.

70.83 – Virat Kohli’s batting average in ODIs as captain is the best average for anyone as captain in ODIs. AB de Villiers has 65.92 while MS Dhoni averages 53.92 as captain in ODIs. (Min: 10 ODI innings as captain)

96.26 – MS Dhoni’s batting strike rate in ODIs when he is not a captain. He has a strike-rate of 86.29 when is the team’s captain in ODIs.

142 – Number of wickets Ravichandran Ashwin has taken in ODI cricket so far. He needs 8 more wickets to complete 150 wickets in the format. In case he completes it in this series, he will be the 3rd fastest Indian to complete 150 wickets. Zaheer Khan is 2nd fastest Indian to the milestone taking 103 ODIs. Ashwin has 142 wickets in 102 ODIs.

147 – Number of wickets Ravindra Jadeja has taken in ODI cricket so far. He needs 3 more wickets to complete 150 wickets in the format. He also needs 151 runs to complete 2000 ODI runs.

197 – Number of sixes MS Dhoni has hit in ODI cricket so far. He needs 3 more sixes to become the 5th player and 1st Indian to hit 200 sixes in ODIs.

942 – Runs scored by Moeen Ali in ODI cricket. He needs 58 more runs to complete 1000 ODI runs.

1984/85 – England’s only bilateral ODI series win in India came in 1984/85 season when they defeated India by 4-1 in 5-match ODI series. England lost 5 bilaterals and drew two series out of the 8 they played on Indian soil.

8936 – Runs scored by MS Dhoni in ODIs for India so far. He needs to score 64 runs to become the 5th Indian with 9000 ODI runs for India.
