IPL 2015 – KXIP vs KKR: Graphical Analysis: The Kolkata Knight Riders look to be very much complete in every department as they squeezed their second win in the season after an all-round performance by Andrew Russell. KXIP continued to be playing scratchy in this edition of the tournament, as they lost all their games at the adopted home, Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Here, Crictracker brings you a special graphical analysis of the Indian Premier League match.

Match Summary:

Kings XI Punjab got off to a poor start after being put into bat by Kolkata Knight Riders. They lost their top three in very quick time as the pressure went on Maxwell and Bailey who reinstalled the innings. However, they kept losing wickets in regular intervals and manage to put 155 on the board, courtesy of a valuable knock for their captain.

Chasing 156, Kolkata’s batting was destroyed by Sandeep Sharma despite of a counter attack from Surya Kumar Yadav which could only reduce the required rate. However, Andre Russell took over the KXIP bowlers with some boundaries. Yusuf Pathan gave a good support to Russell as the Knight Riders registered a comprehensive win.

Kings XI Punjab had just one good partnership in its whole innings shows the lack of support Bailey got for his team mates. After been reduced for 27 for 3, Bailey along with Maxwell tried to score runs at a good pace along with protecting their wickets. They shared a 63 run stand in 44 balls before Maxwell fell for 33, after which hardly a 15-20 run stands formed.

Kolkata Knight Riders looked going well after losing two wickets when Surya Kumar Yadav counter attacked the KXIP bowlers with a quick for 23 but soon they fell down to 60 for 5. But Russell along with Yusuf Pathan, turned the game. Russell kept hitting boundaries whereas Yusuf, with an unbeaten 28 kept turning strike to Russell. They both shared a 95 runs stand in 59 balls before Russell fell when his side needed one more run to win.

Andre Russell showed a perfect example for all-round show. First with the ball, he got the big wicket of Sehwag who is always a dangerous player. In his second spell, he got another bit hitting batsman, Thisara Perera. He had picked up couple of good catch during fielding especially, the catch of Maxwell, where he dived forward.

With the bat, he played a match winning innings. Coming out to bat with a score of 60 for 5, Russell didn’t panic much as he kept hitting the ball to the fence regularly. He struck the ball well and was well supported by Yusuf Pathan.  His cameo took the game away from KXIP, who looked to seize the game.

Captain George Bailey stepped in with his side in trouble at 27 for 3. First, he formed a good stand with his fellow Australian mate as the things looked in his control. But suddenly Bailey couldn’t found anyone’s support as he was left as lone warrior. He completed his fifty in 40 balls and ended up with 60 when he got run out in the last over.

Umesh Yadav, who was India’s leading wicket taker in the World Cup, continued his form in the IPL. Against KXIP, he bowled more the full lengths which batsmen tried to hit but finally ended up giving their wickets. Umesh got wickets of Vijay and Maxwell with a bit shorter deliveries whereas Gurkreet’s wicket was full delivery.

Sandeep Sharma bowled one brilliant piece of spell against KKR as the opposition batsmen had no answer to his incoming deliveries. He first started by trapping Uthappa and later followed it by forcing Pandey to play a big shot which gave him the second wicket. Sandeep struck yet again as Gambhir edged to keeper off his bowling and he picked up one more in his following delivery by trapping Doeschate.
