All-rounder Irfan Pathan was picked by the Rising Pune Supergiants in the IPL 2016 Auction.

Irfan Pathan performed well in Ranji trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy this year. He picked up 17 wickets from 10 matches in Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy this year and led Baroda to the finals which they eventually lost to Uttar Pradesh by 38 runs. Irfan Pathan last played for India in 2012 and since then he has been out from the team more due to injuries than form but recently he has got his form back in Indian domestic tournaments and that earned him a contract with the Rising Pune Supergiants in IPL auction 2016.

Though Irfan is in-form, Pune team management did not include him in the playing XI in the first match against Mumbai Indians which the team won comfortably by 9 wickets. Rising Pune Supergiants have been captained by India’s captain MS Dhoni and due to Irfan’s exclusion from the playing XI, his fans from all over India, particularly from Vadodara, showed their reactions on social media towards Pune team management and captain MS Dhoni.

His fans are not happy with Pune team management for ignoring Pathan provided he is in his prime form and for that they have started one campaign named “Admit Irfan to Playing XI” on social sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc along with Whatsapp. His fans from all over India have supported this campaign to include Irfan in the playing XI from next matches of Rising Pune Supergiants and it will be interesting to see whether Pune change their winning combination or not because it is a fact that Dhoni is not known to tinker with winning combination much.

Rising Pune Supergiants will play their next match at Rajkot against Gujarat Lions on April 13.
