KPL 2015 Match 23: Hubli Tigers defeats Mysuru Warriors by 24 runs: Mysuru Warriors’ poor run in the 2015 season continues as they faced their 5th defeat and are officially out of playoff race. The defending champions have one more game left and they will be facing Rockstars on Thursday in last league game of KPL 2015.

Chasing 156 to keep playoffs hopes alive, Captain Gautam opened the innings along with Nihal Ullal. Warriors looked like getting a decent start only before they lost the wicket of Ullal. Gautam held the innings at one end but wickets continued at the other side. Gautam’s resistance came to an end in 13th over when he got trapped in front. He played some beautiful shots in his innings of 30.

Mysuru Warriors hopes on the win looked bleak as they needed another 91 runs in just 46 balls to win. But a quick cameo from Suchith, who scored 27 in 16 balls with 4 fours kept his side in the chase. Towards the end, Krishnappa Gowtham smashed 2 sixes and Shoiab Manager kept the runs coming by hitting couple of boundaries. With the run rate kept increasing, Mysuru Warriors ended up on 131 for 8, falling 24 runs short of Hubli Tigers’ score.

Earlier, Hubli Tigers who won the toss, elected to bat first. Hubli Tigers’ openers Mohammed Taha and KB Pawan gave their side a great start with a big partnership. They went down to the halfway stage without losing a wicket as the right hand opening pair shared a stand of 75 in 11 overs for 1st wicket. With Anand and K Gowtham picking up 4 wickets in 4 overs, Hubli fumbled to 87 for 4. Warriors’ best bowler in the innings, Anand Doddamani picked up his 3rd wicket by sending back Kranthi Kumar and finished off with figures of 4-0-22-3.

However, CJ William and D Negi gave Hubli Tigers a good finish by putting on a 46-run stand for 6th wicket in just 4.2 overs. Suchith finished off the innings by picking wicket of Negi as Hubli ended with 155 for 7.
