In a shocking news for the Kolkata Knight Riders who cleared up Horbat Hurricanes in the semi-finals to book a CLT20 final berth. Their key spinner, bowling spearhead Sunil Narine has been reported for the 2nd time in two matches for bowling with an illegal bowling action.
The statement released by the CLT20 read, “After all video evidence of the match was taken into account, on-field umpires Rod Tucker and S. Ravi along with third umpire Vineet Kulkarni felt that there was a flex action in his elbow beyond the acceptable limit when bowling during the match,” it was released a few hours after the match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

This happened after Narine was warned for bowling with a suspected action against the Dolphins in their last league game. On-field umpire Kumar Dharmasena and the third umpire found his action in appropriate. What this does is makes Narine ineligible to bowl any further in the tournaments organised by the BCCI. Untill he clears his name off the list by going through analysis at the SRMC (Sri Ramachandra Medical College which is an ICC certified centre.
His ban also includes the final of the CLT20 scheduled on the 4th October against the Chennai Super Kings who beat the Kings XI Punjab comprehensively to make it to yet another tournament final.

The BCCI has been acting hard and quick on all errant bowlers since the ICC banned Pakistan ace spinner Saeed Ajmal last month. The decision will also come under fire as Narine has already undergone and was allowed to bowl with changes in his bowling action. A lot awaits to be cleared on Sunil Narine’s response to the issue as well. The world is now watching the T20 championship with a keen eye who knows all the off-spinners playing might get banned.
