Tillakaratne Dilshan bid adieu to his 17-year international career during which he played nearly 500 games for his country, Sri Lanka. Widely known for his ‘Dil Scoop’ that was popularized in the 2009 World T20, Dilshan started his career as a middle-order batsman who could bowl spin. Slowly, he moved up the order and opened the innings and also served as a keeper. Here we look at major statistical highlights during his International career.

1 – Dilshan is the only player to score centuries in all the 3 formats in International cricket as captain.

1 – He is only the Sri Lankan player to finish an ODI World Cup as top run-getter. He topped the CWC 2011 with 500 runs in the 11 games.

2 – He is one of two players to score a run, pick a wicket, to take a catch and to effect a stumping in T20Is. He did that in ODIs as well along with 13 other players.

2 – He is only next to Rohit Sharma to have two 150+ scores in ODIs in losing cause.

3 – Tillakaratne Dilshan is one of the 3 Sri Lankans to open the innings with the bat as well as ball in ODIs.

4 – He is one of the 4 players to score fifties in both innings of a Test inside 50 balls. He scored those in 30 and 35 balls respectively vs New Zealand in 2009.

5 – He is one of the 5 players in ODI history to score 10,000 runs and pick 100 wickets.

13 – He is one of the two Sri Lankans and one of the 13 players overall to score a century and take 4-wicket haul in same ODI. He did it against Zimbabwe in 2011 World Cup.

35 – Number of matches Dilshan has played in World T20, most by any player.

38y 135d – Age at which he scored 161* vs Bangladesh in ODI at MCG in 2015. He is the oldest to score a 150+ score in ODIs.

46.04 – His batting average as an opener in ODIs. The 3rd best among the ones who have scored more than 5000+ runs while opening.
