Top 10 highest individuals scores for Bangladesh in Tests

Records were rewritten at Wellington as Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim together compiled a 359-run partnership for the fifth wicket. In the process of becoming only the third Bangladesh player to score a double hundred, Shakib went on to register the highest ever individual Test score by a Bangladesh player. In his sizzling knock of 217 runs, he hit a phenomenal 31 boundaries.

The previous record was held by Tamim Iqbal who hit 206 against Pakistan 2 years ago. That inning was another blistering knock which had 7 maximums. The other instance was by Mushfiqur Rahim who hit exactly 200 runs against Sri Lanka at the Galle stadium back in 2013. He was the first player to score 200 for Bangladesh.

Then there is Mohammed Ashraful who came real close to achieving the feat in the very same game. He, unfortunately, was dismissed on 190, just 10 shy of a double century. Mominul Haque’s 181 against New Zealand also stands among the top scores.

In the 1st Test against New Zealand Mushfiqur also managed to enter the record books with his scintillating innings of 159 which included 23 boundaries. He also became only the third Bangladesh player to cross 150 runs twice. The other two batsmen to have achieved the feat are Tamim and Ashraful.

Next on the list is Ashraful’s 158 not out against India in 2004. It was the record score by a Bangladesh player then and stayed till 9 years before he himself hit 190 against Sri Lanka. However, this record stood for a very short duration as Mushfiqur went on to hit 200 just an hour later.

The other batsmen among the top scorers for Bangladesh include Tamim again for his scintillating knock of 151 runs against India in 2010, Imrul Kayes for a splendid 150 against Pakistan in 2015 and Aminul Islam who scored a brilliant 145 way back in 2000.
