Top 10 leading wicket-takers in 2015: Can there be any other sight more thrilling and exciting than the one in which the fast bowler is running in fast, bending his back and hitting the deck hard? The very scene of a bowler in a middle of a ripping spell when he is on song and turning up the heat by beating up the bat or menacing the batter by delivering lethal bouncers is enough to plug-in the spectators and cricket crazy lovers on the edge of their seats.

Even when the spinners are spinning a web and the ball is turning miles which makes the batters stay at the crease uncomfortable, crazy cricket fans love that. And why they wouldn’t? Who always wants to see abrupt domination of the bat over the ball. In the recent few years, we have witnessed how the game has tilted in favor of the batsmen and now amassing big totals has become relatively an easy task with time.

But still there have been bowlers who have stood up and proved to the world that quality bowling is a weapon which can win you any battle on the 22 yards. The year 2015 has seen some high scoring thrillers whether in World Cup matches or in the Test matches played till now.

Today, we talk about the bowling stalwarts of 2015 who have taken highest number of wickets across all the formats. The list is headed by the World Cup hero Mitchell Starc who has taken 69 wickets in 22 matches. From bowling in 150 kmph zone to delivering ripping Yorkers, Starc has done it all and has emerged as the new fast bowling sensation of the world. Though Kiwi pacer Trent Boult is also giving him fight to the hilt and has proved his worth in all the formats of the game. Boult occupies 2nd position in the list with 53 wickets.

The 3rd spot is occupied by English pacer Stuart Broad who was the protagonist of the side in the Ashes series and swayed away the Australian’s with his ripping spells. The 4th and 6th positions are occupied by two Asian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yasir Shah respectively. Ashwin is taking his game to the very next level with time and has grabbed 47 scalps. While Yasir Shah is showing signs of maturing as a world class leg-spinner with time and is being hailed as the next big thing as far as the art of leg-spin is concerned.

The Ashes rivals James Anderson and Mitchell Johnson are stationed at 5th and 7th position with 45 and 41 wickets respectively. They have transformed their experience into results which has reaped fruits for their side. The pacers Josh Hazlewood and Jerome Taylor are positioned at 8th and 9th in the list with 40 wickets. Hazlewood is ahead of Taylor as he has played one match less. The Aussie pacer is seen as the apparent heir of Glenn McGrath with his ability to bowl the impeccable off-stump line. While Taylor has made a remarkable return to the national ranks after sitting on the sidelines for quite some time.

Wahab Riaz is ranked 10th in the list though he has delivered one of the best spells of the year when he nearly gave the Aussie side a scare in the Quarter-final match of World Cup 2015.
