It’s been a long time since we saw Hitman on the field. When India’s opening pair struggled, Rohit was missed the most. If he missed spotting the Indian jersey just as much, he will have to play to his potential during the IPL to seal a spot in the national side before the Champions Trophy. And, in all probability, he is not letting the IPL go away lightly.

The Mumbai Indians’ skipper is one of the most successful players in the League. He has played an integral role for them by guiding their batting line-up and leading from the front, in that process. It was under his captaincy that MI won the IPL in 2013. He only increased his value by winning the IPL 8 again. Being an opener gives him the opportunity to provide consistent runs for his side and be in the game constantly.

Last year, he was 6th on the table of highest run-getters with 489 runs in 14 matches. This year, if all is well and he gets back to being the Ro-Hit that can continue pulling off victory with stellar displays of power hitting along with classic shots during tight chases, there is no stopping him from being the one coveting the Orange cap.
