It’s no surprise when an international cricket match becomes a trending topic on Twitter worldwide. The game has been growing in every corner and social media has had a huge role to play. The cricketing universe on Twitter quite often brightens up your day with a sarcastic, wordplay, wisdom filled or a hilarious tweet. And it takes them just 140 characters to tickle your funny bones or to make you wonder in amazement.

After the famous Ishant Sharma meme and dressing room jokes, Twitter found another upgrade with Pat Cummins’ comeback. Having last played a Test in 2011, Cummins was back as Mitchell Starc was ruled out of the series. He got his first wicket in 6 years as KL Rahul was dismissed after scoring 67 runs.

Cummins surprised Rahul with a quick short delivery. The Indian opener was taken aback and held his bat high as the ball in the process gloved and went straight to wicketkeeper Mathew Wade. That was the lone wicket to fall on the day for India.

Twitter just couldn’t control itself from cracking jokes and drew some really funny comparisons of the duration between Pat Cummins’ wickets. One such comparison had a game of thrones reference while another one compared the time period to the number of prime ministers Australia had during the time.

#TheLastTimeCumminsTookATestWicket trend took to Twitter as people made some humorous takes on it. How Shahid Afridi was going through one of his retirements during that time, Kevin Pietersen had good relations with his current nemesis Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss, legends Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting were still active in international cricket, Steve Smith and Ravindra Jadeja’s journey slided from worse to best and also how stories could only be made on snapchat then and many more.

Here are some of the hilarious reactions from Twitterati as Pat Cummins took his first Test wicket in 6 years:
