Twitter Reactions: Virat Kohli leads the team to another victory as India gain upper hand in the series

In what was an enthralling run chase by the hosts, India guided by Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni cruised to a 7 wickets victory to go a notch above New Zealand in the series leading 2-1. Earlier in the day, MS Dhoni won the toss as India elected to field first again. No changes were made in the playing XI from the last game. The Kiwis had Jimmy Neesham coming in for Anton Devcich.

The Kiwis were off to a fine start before Guptill got trapped by Yadav in front of the stumps. Latham continued his good form with another half century while Ross Taylor also managed to get some runs under his belt. However, Mishra and Kedar Jadhav played misery to the Kiwi innings as they spun the web around the New Zealand batsmen. They were reduced from 153/2 to 199/8.
From there on, Neesham and Henry combined together with an 84 run partnership for the ninth wicket. The Kiwis eventually got all out for 285 which was a fantastic total here. Yadav bowled well striking thrice but was taken for cleaners in the death overs. Mishra and Bumrah got a couple of wickets. But the pick of the bowlers was the man with the golden arm, Kedhar Jadhav with figures of 3/29.
India weren’t off to the best of starts as Rahane and Rohit were back in the pavilion with just 41 runs on the board. Dhoni sprung in with a surprise move as he walked in at No.4. What followed was a magnificent partnership of 151 runs between two of India’s most experienced batsmen.

MS Dhoni scored his first fifty in almost a year as he missed out on a well deserving century getting out for 80 runs. In the process, he reached 9000 runs in ODIs and also broke the Indian record for most sixes. Virat Kohli on the other hand, played out of his skins with a magnanimous 154 not out off just 131 balls as he led the run chase for India.
Earlier batting at 6 runs, he was dropped by Ross Taylor which later ended up costing Kiwis the match. Henry got a couple of wickets while Southee too managed to get one in the form of Rohit Sharma. Twitter was full of praise for the Kohli-Dhoni partnership. While the people ran out of words to express Kohli’s greatness, there was lots of adulation for MS who was propelled by Twitterati to continue batting at No.4. Taylor got trolled for probably one of the costliest drops ever.
