The fog of uncertainty over Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s fitness hasn’t cleared yet and he once again opted to skip the nets session a day ahead of the last Test against Australia at Dharamsala. Yesterday the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had added Mumbai batsman Shreyas Iyer as a cover for Kohli since his fitness status would only be clear on the eve of the game.

Virat had injured his right shoulder on the first day of the Ranchi Test while attempting to field a ball, he dived and fell awkwardly on his shoulder which saw him miss the on-field action for the rest of the Australian inning. He took rest for a couple of days also underwent scans which revealed that there was no tear and it was a minor injury.

For the last couple of days, he has just been taking throw-downs from coach Anil Kumble in the nets and has restricted his participation to observing the rest of the proceedings from the outside. In the pre-match press conference skipper Virat today said that the final decision on whether he will participate in the game or not.

Team India would want the skipper to get fit in time for the match since the fate of the series relies on the game and it will be a huge let down for them if Virat misses out. Earlier as Ajinkya Rahane captained the Indian team in Australia’s first innings when the skipper was out nursing his shoulder in the dressing room. One could sense a lack of intent in the team as the Australians posted a 451-run total.

This will be Dharamsala’s debut Test and the pitch curator said that he has left a lot of grass on the wicket which will ensure it assists the faster bowlers. The conditions and the surroundings along with the altitude and overcast conditions will also be of help for the pacers. It will be interesting to see the playing XI both the teams opt for in the Test.
