A break in a series is always considered to be handy for the team that is looking to make a comeback. The winning team would want to carry on, given they are in form and in the right frame of mind to get desired results. The momentum of the India vs England Test series was lying pretty much in the bags of the Indian team after the first three Tests. There was an 8-day break before the fourth Test at Mumbai and Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli feels that the schedule for India’s tour to England should also include such a break.

Not just this, following the Test series there is a 25 days layoff before the ODI series kicks off. The England team will travel back home for Chrisman and New Year and will return for the limited-overs leg of the series. Kohli said that the Indian team hadn’t asked for the break it was a part of the schedule and would want a return favor when his team travels to England.

“We did not ask for the gap. It was a part of the schedule. We will make sure when we go there we also get 8-day gap after three Tests and 25-day gap between ODIs and Test series,” Kohli said on the eve of the fourth Test.

He also said that it would be perfect if they get a break during the tour of England which usually stretches over three months. While also pointing out that the English media keeps a close eye on whatever they are doing during their stay.

“Absolutely or vice-versa. We should also come back for a month as well (from England). No point we play there for three and half-months and everything we do is in the media’s eye and even our off-time is scanned. I would like to see the same thing here or we come back here as well,” he added.

Though the break is usually considered to hamper the momentum of a team, Kohli said that they also used this time to their advantage. “It (the break) actually helped us rest a bit, reflect on what we have done in two games that we have won. We will just visualise and come back even more fresh compared to the last two Test matches. So, it was a good thing to happen and we certainly benefited from it,” the Indian skipper concluded saying.
