All 11 internationally accredited stadiums in South Africa is in contention to be a hosting venue for the CSA Twenty20 Global Destination League planned by Cricket South Africa. The tournament which will include 8 privately owned teams has received interest from ten countries around the world. This will definitely be one of those eagerly awaited tournaments in the nation and CSA will be looking forward to it.

The ten stadiums shortlisted for the event is Boland Park, Buffalo Park, Mangaung Oval, Newlands, Kingsmead, Senwes Park, SuperSport Park, St. Georges Park, Willowmoore Park and last but not the least the most iconic ground in the country, the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. While some of the grounds are rich in their history and heritage some are yet to make a mark at the international level.

“We are thrilled with the responses we are receiving from prospective team owners. No doubt this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for both bidder and city,” Haroon Lorgat, the CSA chief executive was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. “Our new #T20 Global Destination League is aiming to create city rivalry across the country as we look to attract new audiences, especially the youth and families.

“Ever since the idea of the tournament was proposed by CSA they have received positive responses from all over the world with potential winners coming from England, USA, India and the middle east. The Chennai Super Kings team management conceded that they are considering a team in the league and is seeking more details from the South African board.”

According to the rules of CSA, the bidders have to submit their bids by 18th April. The tournament is scheduled to commence from November and the final of each edition will be played on December 16 every year. Meanwhile, South Africa is currently the No.1 team in the ODI format and has been simply exceptional in the last year or so. They crushed the Aussies 5-0 in a bilateral series in 2016 October which was the first time Australia suffered a 5-0 whitewash in their lifetime.
