The year 2015 was an eventful one in cricket. The ODI World Cup, the Ashes, South Africa’s tour to India, and the first ever day-night Test were the marquee events of the year. The early part of the year saw the batsmen dominate the proceedings but the bowlers came back with more zeal to dictate terms. Some exceptional bowling spells were witnessed throughout the year in Tests and ODIs. Here are the best bowling spells of the year 2015.
1. Yasir Shah – 7/76 v Sri Lanka, Galle:
Shah’s best performance was also the best spell by an overseas bowler in Tests in Sri Lanka. His 7/76 helped Pakistan take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series. The visitors had taken a lead of 117 and the home side was left to counter a turning track on the fourth day of the match. Before stumps, the leg-spinner removed Dimuth Karunaratne and Kumar Sangakkara and on the fifth morning, he bowled Dilruwan Perera and then claimed the wicket of skipper Angelo Mathews before closing in on the Sri Lankan tail. The 7-wicket spell spun Pakistan to a ten-wicket victory.
