19 years old English cricketer Barney Gibson announces retirement: Barney Gibson a club cricketer in England is better recognized to be the youngest player to make his first class has decided to quit the game at the age of 19. Barney was 15 years and 27 days when he made his first appearance for Yorkshire against Durhan University back in 2011.

The youngster has been since then playing for Yorkshire second XI and has not been able to advance ahead in his 4 years career. That is what prompted him to halt his cricketing journey and rather take up some other profession where he can better excel.

Barney Gibson in a statement said, “This was a difficult decision to make, “I would like to thank the players and staff at Yorkshire for their support. “I have been involved with the Club since I was 11 and I feel that now is the right time for me to look at a career change.

When someone so young makes it to a first class team there has to be absolute faith and support from the family and he acknowledge that saying, “The support from my parents has been tremendous and I would like to thank Ralph Middlebrook at Pudsey Congs Cricket Club and England coach Paul Farbrace, who I had close working relationships with.”

Martyn Moxon the director of cricket at Yorkshire said, “When you look at the first team at Yorkshire there are a lot of lads who have come through our academy, “But Barney is obviously very advanced for his years, and it’s amazing that he is playing so young.”

“Everyone at the Club wishes Barney well,” said Yorkshire’s Director of Cricket Development Ian Dews. “It is very much his decision. We hope that the next chapter in his life is very successful.” Moxon said.
