21 applications short-listed for India head coach job

BCCI had announced on Sunday that they have received 57 applications from both Indian and overseas candidates for the India head coach job. On Wednesday, they have shortlisted the list of 57 applications to 21 and has been sent to the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and VVS Laxman. The committee will be assisted by Sanjay Jagdale, who is the former secretary and national selector. The report from the Cricket Advisory Committee will be submitted to the BCCI president Anurag Thakur by 22nd June through secretary Ajay Shirke. “The cricket advisory committee which consists of three eminent cricketers, namely Mr. Sachin Tendulkar, Mr. Sourav Ganguly and Mr. VVS Laxman in association with Mr. Sanjay Jagdale, who will act as Chief Co-ordinator of this committee for the purpose of the selection of the Head Coach will be handed over the 21 eligible applications. Should the committee desire to look at all the 57 applications as well, the said will be made available to them.” – the BCCI media release. It further stated that, “The committee will be required to go through the process and on completion, recommend its choice of selection to the President of the BCCI, Mr. Anurag Thakur, through the Honourable Secretary. The primary operations and activities of the committee will be carried out in the Mumbai office of the BCCI,” Also Read: 5 Front runners to be appointed the coach of the Indian team It would be a tough call to select the head coach with a lot of high-profile names in the application list in the likes of Anil Kumble, Sandeep Patil, Ravi Shastri and others. Media reports also suggest that the BCCI working committee will announce the new coach on the 24th of June.
