With the three-match T20I series going in India’s favour, the focus now shifts to the ultimate format of the game- the Test Cricket. Having clinched the T20I series 2-1 under stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma, Team India might be looking to extend their domination in the whites. Virat Kohli’s men have been invincible in Tests at home and it is indeed a daunting task for the visiting teams to register a victory.

The performance against South Africa is proof that the team looks strong in all departments with almost every member contributing to the series win. Virat Kohli’s return after missing the T20Is and the historic day-night Test to be played at the Eden Gardens add spice to this Test series. Having whitewashed the Proteas 3-0 in their previous assignment, the Indian XI looks all but settled which might prove challenging for few other players who might be looking to make the cut.

Let us now look at four players who are likely to be left out of the playing XI during the two-match Test series beginning on November 14th in Indore.

1. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill received his maiden Test call up for the three-match Test series against South Africa at home which the Virat Kohli-led side won convincingly. With several big names in the squad, the Punjab batsman couldn’t make the XI throughout the series.

Nevertheless, being a part of the squad and sharing the dressing room with such established players itself would have been a big learning curve for the talented 20-year-old. Due to his consistency across formats in the domestic circuit, Shubman Gill has once again made the Indian Test squad for the two-match Test series.

With Bangladesh threatening Team India by winning the first T20I, the team management might not be willing to take any risks by dropping an established batsman to bring Gill into the XI. Unfortunately, the youngster might just have to wait for making his much-awaited Test debut.
