5 amendments which could make Cricket a global game: The word Cricket is synonymous to the word ‘Religion’ in the south-eastern Asian countries of India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Indeed, the ecstasy of the game can’t simply be described in words. But the geographical niche or rather the fame and popularity of the game is restricted to a few countries only. Apart from the 10 full member cricketing nations, Cricket is not widespread. For the purpose of globalisation, ICC coined the concepts of Associates and Affiliate Cricketing Nations. Associate Cricketing Nations are the countries where the game of Cricket is considered to be widely popular but are not Full member cricketing nations. They come as intermediate between a Full member and Affiliate cricketing nations.

Affiliate Cricketing nations, on the other hand, are the countries where the game of Cricket is played by following the rules laid down by the ICC but is not that much popular. At present there are a total of 38 Associate Cricketing nations followed by 55 Affiliate Cricketing Nations. Surely, Cricket would have an amplified impact if it was further spread globally.

Digging into that route, here are 5 amendments which could make Cricket a global game:

1. Inclusion of players from Associate and Affiliate nations in Club Cricket:

With the evolution of IPL, the popularity of Cricket has amplified to a considerable extent. Also, the County Cricket in the English soils aided Irish and Scottish cricket to prosper at the international level. In that context, if some rules are made whereby a club team has to mandatory include few players from any of the Associate nations, the popularity of the game will improve leading Cricket subject to globalisation.
