With the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 just days away from now, all the franchises may be looking for a variety of team combinations to succeed in the tournament. The opening spot in T20 cricket is a very important position and all the team managements will be thinking to send their best to make use of the first six overs when the field restrictions will be in place.

From Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar to Hitman Rohit Sharma, many best openers in the history of the game have been moved from the middle-order to the opener’s slot to bring in some changes. Very few could predict that they could be a good opening option, but when they were given a chance to open, they redefined the way of opening the batting in their own way.

Even in the upcoming IPL there might be chances that some of the middle-order batsmen will be sent to open the batting for their teams just to slaughter the bowlers in the powerplay, giving a good start to their team. In this article, we discussed some names of such batsmen who can be a gamechanger for their respective teams in this IPL.

Now let’s look at 5 batsmen who can be considered to open the batting for their respective teams in IPL 2020: –

1. Abdul Samad (SRH)

The 18-year old Jammu Kashmir’s right-handed sensational batsman was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for his base price of INR 20 lakhs in the IPL 2020 auction. Samad’s inclusion in the squad was expected as he was shortlisted in the Sunrisers trials last year.

Samad is an explosive batsman who has the ability to clear the park with his bold hitting. Although SRH bought him to play the finisher’s role in the team, keeping his six-hitting capability in mind they can even send him as an opener along with David Warner to increase the scoring-rate in the first six overs.

Samad, who is about to live his dream of playing IPL with stars like Warner, Kane Williamson and Bhuvnehswar Kumar by his side, is currently with the team in UAE and is expected to have some games under his belt in the coming IPL.
