The player auction for the 10th edition of IPL had created a huge buzz as several players were bought for big bucks. The focus was on overseas bowlers who eventually emerged as the costliest picks of the season. Ben Stokes was roped in by Rising Pune Supergiant for a whopping INR 14.5 crore making him the biggest buy of the auction. Other notable big picks were Tymal Mills, Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada and Chris Woakes.

But as it turned out, the costly players didn’t play to their full potentials. There have been some who didn’t attract huge bids yet performed well. The team owners got lucky with such players in the team. They have done the job of covering up for the other costly ones in the team pretty well.

Here are 5 such players who have proved to be more than their money’s worth:

The fast bowler was picked by Gujarat Lions for INR 85 Lakh but he has certainly put in performances that could be worth a lot more. He has bowled with pace, consistently clocking over 140 clicks and shown the ability to bowl well during the slog overs. Many experts have already deemed as a future prospect for the Indian team.

The 23-year-old has picked up 6 wickets so far in 8 matches and is currently the second highest wicket-taker for his team behind Andrew Tye. His best performance of 3/29 came against Mumbai Indians recently. Thampi has been mighty impressive throughout the season with his pace and the skills to generate reverse swing.
