Prior to 2008, not many people heard about Shaun Marsh but by the end of it, the entire cricketing fraternity was buzzing about the elegant Australian. Marsh ruled the batting charts in the inaugural season of Indian Premier League as he smashed bowlers all around the park and ended the tournament as the highest run-getter despite playing just 11 matches. Marsh accumulated a total of 616 runs on the course of the tournament as Kings XI Punjab reached the semifinals of the competition.

His deeds on the Indian soil led to a maiden national call-up as Marsh was included in Australia’s tour of West Indies in 2008. Marsh carried his hot-form from IPL to the International front as well as he scored a calculated 81 on his debut against West Indies as Australia won by 84 runs. Marsh was named as the Man of the Match.

The Australian has amassed 2477 runs from 71 matches in the IPL and it won’t be wrong to say that the cricket enthusiasts were shocked to see Marsh go unsold in the IPL auctions of 2018.
