The man for the ICC tournaments, Shikhar Dhawan, was unlucky to have got injured quite early in the World Cup 2019. Thus, he had to be ruled out bringing an end to many dreams. However, by the time he got injured, Shikhar already scored a mind-boggling hundred despite playing with a broken finger.

The chances of Dhawan playing the World Cup 2023 are 50-50. The left-hander is 33 years old now but is quite fit. But it gets quite unpredictable with the injuries and form of a player. Four years is a long time and one cannot say with certainty that the Indian opener will feature in the next edition of the tournament as well.

Dhawan is currently recovering from his thumb injury and might go on to play the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia. However, the 50-over World Cup looks a long way away for him and the southpaw will have to decide soon if he will be around after four years as the team will be built on that basis.

5. Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma had a dream outing in World Cup 2019. No other player in the history has scored 5 centuries in a single edition of the tournament. The 32-year-old finished as the leading run-scorer in the tournament and was nearly unstoppable. He consistently provided the team with terrific starts and had a huge role in helping the side get to the semis.

Of late, there have also been demands about Rohit leading the Indian team in white-ball cricket. While the chances that he will play the World Cup 2023 are quite high compared to others on this list, you never know how a player performs as he ages. Thus, there could also be a possibility that Rohit might have already played his last World Cup.

Quite a few Indian players will have to make some tough decisions in the upcoming years keeping in mind the next World Cup which is set to be played in India. While Rohit looks certainty as of now, nobody knows what future has in store for him.
