The term “it gets bigger and better” fits well with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in particular because the tournament brings something new to the table each year. Of course, it is still in its nascent stages and still has a long way to go to come at par with counterparts like the Big Bash League and the Indian Premier League, but their growth has been immense.

Apart from the fact that cricket may well see itself unfold in Karachi after nine long years, a few new additions in the tournament will excite fans all over the world. Not only will it enhance the quality of cricket being played but ensure viewers watch some new talent unearth and see some of their favourite stars take centre stage. Here are the 5 new additions in PSL 2018:

1. Shaheen Shah Afridi – Lahore Qalandars

Pakistan’s newest pace sensation from Khyber has already earned some recognition with his performances in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy that included the best ever figures (8/39) on debut. If that wasn’t enough, he came under the limelight with some stunning spells in the U19 World Cup where he also got a pat on the back from Rahul Dravid. He will be making his debut in the PSL for Lahore Qalandars.

With incredible pace and variations, the left-armer excelled not only in the U19 team but also when he was younger. He is known to have a settled, repeatable action. He has been praised for his game awareness and his inswinger with the new ball. His fitness and height are his best attributes. He is also handy with the bat in the lower order, and his big-hitting ability is an added bonus. If all goes well for him, we might soon see him in the senior’s team.
