The fiery left-handed opener has had a good run with the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Parthiv Patel is an explosive batsman at the top. He has given the side some memorable performances in the past. Parthiv was the sole wicketkeeper in the team for RCB in IPL 2019. Until the franchise decided to bestow the responsibility of wicketkeeping to AB de Villiers.

Parthiv did score runs for RCB but it was clear that he was unable to accelerate his innings after the field spread at the end of the powerplay. He became a liability for the side. However, he was forced to be played in every match because he was the only wicketkeeper for the side last year. In IPL 2020, the franchise also bought a young exciting wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Philippe. With this buy, it was almost certain that it was time for Parthiv to hang his boots for this franchise.

The youngster Devdutt Padikkal surprised all with his consistent performance in this year’s IPL, forcing the captain and the coaches to keep Parthiv out of the XI. It was hard luck on Parthiv to be let out of the squad for 14 matches but it is quite clear that RCB is looking for someone ahead of Parthiv Patel. He might be released from RCB ahead of IPL 2021.
