5 Reasons why India will win the 3rd T20I: The Gandhi-Mandela series started with the commencement of T20I series between India and South Africa where we have seen all sorts of things from long sixes to cool boundaries, from flying stumps to awesome run-outs and from crowd cheering in the game to crowd interruption.
India have already lost the series by losing their first 2 games. But the 3rd T20I still holds lot of importance and has at least pride if nothing else on stake as far as India is concerned.
Here are the 5 Reasons why India will win the 3rd T20I:
1. Reprisal of the first 2 games:
India lost the first game due to poor bowling and lost the 2nd T20I as a result of poor batting as the game will be remembered for the controversial “crowd interruption”. At the end of the two games India has already lost the T20I series; but they will have to win the 3rd match to please the critics, fans and most importantly they will want to win it for themselves.
2. Restoring the faith of the fans:
This will be a challenging task for Indian team as they have to gain back the respect of their fans. After seeing their team’s perform miserably in the last 2 matches, the fans have lost faith. In the recent match that took place in Cuttack, the fans after watching India perform badly they lost their cool and started throwing empty water bottles inside the ground due to which the match was interrupted and abandoned on spot.
3. Awesome records in the Eden Gardens:
The 3rd T20I will be played in The Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The Indian Cricket team has maintained a well-verse record in this special ground. The awesome fact about this stadium is that it can hold up to 90,000 spectators and imagine such a huge crowd rooting for the Indian team will certainly give them lot of confidence. The last time India played at this ground, they had lost the T20I game against England and won their ODI and Test match against Sri Lanka and West Indies respectively. Lots of records have been created on this pitch.
Some of the records held by Indians at the Eden are:
- Kapil Dev notched a ODI hat-trick.
- Harbhajan Singh took his first hat-trick at the Eden gardens.
- Rohit Sharma recorded his career high and the world record score of 264 in a ODI at this ground.
- VVS Laxman scored a brilliant 281, which remains the highest Test score ever scored at this ground.
One more interesting fact is that this ground will be hosting a T20I for the 2nd time on 8th October. This has been Rohit Sharma’s favorite hunting ground and he holds many a records on this ground. He has hit the highest number of runs by the way of boundaries in this ground. He even scored his maiden Test century here. Rohit also made his Test debut at this very ground and won the Man of the Match award for his awesome performance with bat.
4. Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin’s top form:
After the 2 matches in this series, in the column of the leading run scorers and the wicket takers Rohit and Ashwin are at the top. Rohit had scored a century in the 1st match and was the top scorer for India in the 2nd match with 22 runs. India will again be relying on Sharma in the final T20I. When it comes to bowling Ashwin has notched a total of 4 wickets with a miserly economy of 6.25 which gives him the top position in the bowling charts. Ashwin will be leading the Indian attack in the 3rd T20I as well. He had the better of AB de Villiers in this series and has dismissed him 5 times in the last 5 matches India and South Africa have played
5. To Start the ODI series with a winning momentum:
Soon after the T20I series India will be playing 5-match ODI series against RSA starting on October 11th. So India would look to start the ODI series with a winning momentum from the T20Is. Most important thing is that the Indian cricket team has the home-advantage and pressure of expectations. India stands 2nd in the ICC ODI rankings, and no matter what the outcome of the T20I series is, they will start as favorites in the ODIs; MS Dhoni & Co. will be keen to win the 3rd T20I and gain some momentum ahead of the 50 overs battle.
