A crest fallen CSK fan’s lamentation after the verdict: Came home from college, switched on the TV as usual casually in a bid to catch all the news that unfolded and got the shock of my life! The news scroll read that the Chennai Super Kings had been suspended from the IPL for 2 years. It sucked the life out of me, crushed my will and broke me into pieces. The blood pressure in my arteries got elevated and I stood shell shocked and motionless for a while.

Call it a dirge or an elegy or whatever but this is where I’m going to try to jot down all my lamentations that’s been rumbling and ramming through my brain ever since I heard that disastrous news. I’ve been a pious and a devout devotee of this mesmerizing side, CSK for the past 8 years and never in my mind did I think for once that such an injurious and cataclysmic thing would occur. The joy that I get whenever I see MSD don that coveted yellow jersey and majestically walk onto the pitch has been immense and the very thought that I’m not gonna see him and the other CSK superstars for the next 2 years leaves me inexplicably shattered.

I’ve cut classes to watch the CSK matches, picked fights to shield my team from haters, stayed awake a whole night many times even when my eyelids were drooping forcefully, just to watch CSK play. My team has given me countless moments that I will cherish and relish for the rest of my sojourn on this earth. I still find it extremely difficult to fathom the reality that there is no CSK anymore. Why ban CSK?

They could have just banned Gurunath Meiyappan. What did the players do? Where did they err? They have been the most consistent side of the IPL, but in the end it doesn’t even matter. I’ve seen it all-the Dhoni special at Dharamsala in the last over, the swashbuckling 87 off 25 balls from Suresh Raina, the 127 off 56 balls from Murali Vijay and so on. The Justice Lodha panel might have eliminated CSK for the next two years. But these memories will stay afresh in my mind like it were yesterday.

At this point of time, I’m crestfallen, disconcerted and my dejection levels have soared so high that it has hit the saturation point. The verdict has been true to the saying “One man’s meat is another man’s poison”. I say so, because there is one big group of haters who are rejoicing at the plight of CSK, whereas people like me have their minds cast into sullen deep pits of depression. My countenance has shrunk with gloom that there is no whistle podu for the next two years. Hope there is some way out for the players and fans, evolving as a keyhole way through this verdict and I really and very truly hope that CSK will be back soon!
