Mushfiqur Rahim has cleared his late fitness test to participate in the one-off Test against India. Bangladesh travels to India on 2nd February, they will play a practice match against India A which is led by Abhinav Mukund before the main event on 9th February.

It will be a tough task for Bangladesh as they face a team that is brimming with confidence. India have just beaten England 4-0 while Bangla tigers have lost both their Tests against the black caps. However, Bangladesh skipper sounded positive, he said “A team effort will give us a good result. They have a strong squad and are always really good in their home conditions. We want to do well against them over five days, and not just two or three days.”

The tigers will play their first ever Test match against India in India. Their first Test opponents were India hence this will be a historic game by all means. When asked about the same, the travelling skipper totally disagreed and said: “I’m a little surprised, I don’t believe that this is a historic Test. This to me is just another Test match.”

“Take for example when we play against Zimbabwe. The pressure is more because if we lose against them then there is nothing more shameful than that. I will say that it is better that we are going there now and not five years ago.”

The 28-year-old wants his team to give the opposition a tough game and make sure India invites them for a full series in near future. “We want to tell world cricket what we can do in India. I don’t think about how many years later we are going to play in India. We want to play in such a way that India invites again and again,” he was quoted saying.

Bangladesh were beaten by New-Zealand (NZ) but they gave Kiwis a hard time. The tigers dominated some of the sessions but it was not enough. They have an inexperienced bowling attack, however, some of them did pretty well against NZ. “As a bowling unit we are inexperienced, but one or two bowlers did do well in New Zealand. If we can perform as a team we can do well against any other good team,” he said.

Mushfiqur and his team are aware of the conditions and are ready to face any kind of pitch that comes their way. “The pace and bounce will be true there, and I think our batsmen will have a challenge in their hands against their world-class attack. No matter what conditions they offer, we have a balanced side. We have enough pacers and spinners and depth in batting,” he said.
