Pakistan are dominating the ongoing second Test match against Australia in Abu Dhabi. They are currently sitting pretty with a lead of over 400 runs in the second innings. Amidst the grim action in the middle, the visitors affected one of the most comical run-outs in the game. Azhar Ali stopped in the middle of the pitch chatting with his partner presuming that the ball had gone for the boundary. But that wasn’t the case and ran himself out on 64.

The incident took place in the 53rd over of the innings and the dismissal has grabbed the eyeballs of the cricket experts as well. In no time, the video of the run-out went viral as the social media was filled with the messages trolling the batsman. Even the coach Mickey Arthur expressed his disappointment on camera and was visibly frustrated as Azhar had given away a great chance of scoring a century.

Chopra recalls Bell’s dismissal

A similar incident had taken place during India’s tour of England in 2011. It was the last ball of the second session and Ian Bell thought the ball had gone to the boundary and started walking towards the dressing room. But in reality, the fielder had stopped the ball inside the ropes and then MS Dhoni clipped the bails off in a flash to appeal to the on-field umpires. He was eventually given out as the Indian team was booed by the crowd.

However, Dhoni, being the captain, showed sportsman spirit and recalled Bell despite making such a huge mistake and the rest is history. Aakash Chopra recalled this incident on his official Twitter handle and compared it to Azhar Ali’s dismissal.

Michael Vaughan, meanwhile, is having a keen eye on the proceedings in Abu Dhabi and didn’t leave a chance to troll the batsman. He termed the run-out as one of the greatest ever dismissals as Azhar Ali continues to trend on social media in spite of playing well for his 64-run knock.
