AB de Villiers to sit out against Gujarat Lions due to an injury

Royal Challengers Bangalore face yet another injury issue ahead of their all-important clash against Gujarat Lions today as their star batsman AB de Villiers is expected to miss the 20th match of the tournament due to an injury. Taking to his twitter handle de Villiers informed that he won’t be available for today’s match due to an injury and wished the rest of the team a very good luck for the must-win encounter.

The star Proteas batsman already missed out on the opening two games of the tournament and despite his return, the fortunes of RCB has remained the same as they have lost 4 out of the 5 matches played in the tournament so far. He looked in ominous touch during his comeback game against the Kings XI Punjab where he scored a swashbuckling 46 balls 89 which included 3 fours and 9 sixes.

Despite his valiant effort, RCB failed to get over the line and lost yet another match. Even the return of their inform captain Virat Kohli didn’t do any good to RCB as they kept losing matches. The absence of de Villiers from today’s game will surely be a huge blow for RCB especially after being pushed to a corner in the tournament.

He played executed some audacious shots to perfection and never looked in any discomfort. On a pitch where his other teammates failed to master any substantial score, de Villiers smashed 89 out of the total of 148 scored by RCB.The last year finalist faces Gujarat Lions in their 6th match of the tournament and another loss will surely make things very difficult for them as the tournament progress.

With Mr.360 not playing, the scales might be tilted in favour of the hosts given the fact they will be playing in front of their home crowd. The South African hard-hitter is an impact player and can change the complexion of the game within a matter of minutes. So his absence will surely be a big worry for Kohli and his boys.
