Royal Challengers Bangalore ace batsman AB de Villiers took to Twitter to reassure fans who shall gather at the Chinnaswamy of a good result. The Royal Challengers Bangalore only have the pride to play for in the remainder of the ongoing Indian Premier League as they have already crashed out of the tournament. Despite starting off as favourites for this edition of the IPL, RCB have had a dreadful season.
They currently find themselves languishing at the bottom of the table with just 5 points from the 11 games they’ve played. There have been few bright spots for the Royal Challengers this season. Their batting-heavy side has failed consistently, with the big guns looking scratchy throughout the tournament. De Villiers has himself had a forgettable outing, having scored just 196 runs from 7 games. Injury woes have hampered AB and he generally hasn’t looked the feared batsman he’s always been.
Nevertheless, the South African legend tweeted in the wee hours of Friday to restore faith in the team’s fans who have always rooted for RCB no matter what the circumstances were. His tweet read, “Looking to end the #IPL10 off with a few good results! Hopefully we can give the fans something to cheer about tonight at the Chinnaswamy.”

Last year’s finalists RCB were able to win just 2 matches this season. They followed up their loss against defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in the curtain raiser with a thrilling victory against the Delhi Daredevils at home. Their next win came against the Gujarat Lions, which saw Chris Gayle spring to form. A washout in Bengaluru gave RCB one point, and the team has been handed losses ever since.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore take on the Kings XI Punjab in Bengaluru tonight, and could well go on to upset KXIP who yet have an outside chance of making the playoffs. They next face the Kolkata Knight Riders in their final home game of the season, before travelling to Delhi to clash against the Delhi Daredevils on May 14.
