The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to release funds for hosting the upcoming New Zealand A tour. The New Zealand A team will be touring India for almost a month. They will be playing two four-day matches and five one-day fixtures against the India A team during the tour.

The two shortlisted venues for the fixtures are Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam. It is worth noting that both the venues fall under the ACA control. The tour commences on September 20 and will end on October 15. The New Zealand A team recently announced the squad for the same as well. As per the recent reports in the New Indian Express, the ACA has sent a written request to the BCCI CEO Rahul Johri for the funds.

An official revealed that they will need additional funds in order to provide proper supplies to the visiting team. The official noted that they have not received a reply on the same yet from the BCCI. He, however, cited that the funds would be needed for various purposes such as the security, travelling, and practice.

“We have written to the BCCI asking for funds to host these matches. The New Zealand team is scheduled to arrive in Visakhapatnam on September 20. Other than security and arrangements for practice, travel from hotel to stadium has to be organised by the host association. We are yet to get a reply, but not worried about it since there are 10 days to go,” quoted an ACA official.

Incidentally, the state associations had stopped receiving funds from the BCCI after the Supreme Court Directive last year. Recently, even the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) had made a similar request for hosting the Australian side in the warm-up games for their upcoming visit. Australia are scheduled to play 5 ODIs in India.
