The busy schedule all around the international cricket continues as Afghanistan is planning for their first bilateral One-Day International (ODI) series against Bangladesh.

The ACB and BCB haven’t decided anything on the number of matches to be played in the series, but it is said that the series could be held after the Eid holidays which falls around September 12-13.

“We are in talks with the BCB to play the series next month but we are yet to sign the Memorandum of Understanding [MoU],” ACB media manager Aziz Gharwal told ESPNcricinfo, as he added that the dates of the match will be soon published on their website. “We haven’t yet set dates for the matches but we will soon publish the dates on our website.”

England’s tour of Bangladesh is scheduled to start from October 7, and the board is trying to get a home series ahead of the England tour. It is also learnt that Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is in talks with some other team apart from Afghanistan but is yet to confirm anything.

Akram Khan, chairman of BCB’s cricket operations, said: “We are still in talks with them but we cannot confirm anything at the moment.”

If the series against Afghanistan is confirmed, that will be the first ODI matches for Bangladesh since November 2015. They have only played T20 internationals since then and their last international fixture was in March.

Bangladesh and Afghanistan had played against each other twice in ODIs and once in T20 internationals. The first ODI match was in the 2014 Asia Cup and in the 2015 World Cup, where the T20 clash was in the 2014 World T20 in Mirpur.
