Rewards and accolades continued to pour in for Pakistani players as this time Shahid Afridi, Misbah ul Haq, and Younis Khan, were felicitated by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for their contribution to Pakistan Cricket in the last two and a half decade. The three stalwarts recently announced their retirement from the game of cricket and were awarded a whopping sum of Rs 10 million each.
Misbah ul Haq and Younis Khan recently retired from Test cricket as they signed off in a perfect manner by clinching the three-match Test series against West Indies. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) planned a befitting ceremony for the trio in West Indies. Since Shahid Afridi was involved in some other commitment, the legendary all-rounder could not make it to the ceremony.

In the felicitation party, Nawaz Sharif directed the President of Pakistan Cricket Board not to plead any team to play cricket at home. Further, he stated that those who are willing to play should visit themselves. “There is no need to plead with any country to visit Pakistan, those who want to play in Pakistan will visit themselves,” said the Prime Minister according to Geo TV. The announcement came during the ceremony held in honor of Pakistan cricket team, to celebrate their historic win in the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy.
The swashbuckling left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman recently received a reward of 20 lakhs from Bilal Malik, who is the son of Malik Riaz, the owner of Bahria Town, Karachi. After the conclusion of the premier’s speech, he distributed prize money among the players and participated in a photography session with PCB’s management and players. Shoaib Malik thanked the PM for inviting the team. Speaking at the event, batsman Azhar Ali said as a team “we enjoyed the tournament.” He added that the captain boosted the team’s morale after the initial defeat.
