Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders unveiled their new jersey for the 2017 edition via an Instagram post from their official account where four members of the team are seen in a still video. Captain Gautam Gambhir and his opening partner Robin Uthappa along with Manish Pandey and Suryakumar Yadav are the four players out there in the video.

Kolkata has been one of the most consistent teams in the tournament over the years and ever since Gautam Gambhir took over in 2011 the team has gained from strength to strength and has gone on to lift two IPL titles. The opening combination of Uthappa and Gambhir has been a potent weapon for the two-time Champions and the experienced duo has got the team off to a flying start on most occasions.

In the bowling department, Sunil Narine has been a great buy for the franchise but it remains to be seen how the bowler responds after coming back with a modified action. The fast bowling department comprises of Pat Cummins, Trent Boult and Nathan Coulter-Nile among the foreigners and will be spearheaded by the Indian paceman Umesh Yadav. He is expected to be available from KKR’s first home against the Kings XI Punjab on 13th April.

The colour of the KKR jersey was black in the inaugural edition which went on to become purple in the 3rd edition. The official sponsor for the first many seasons was Nokia after which it was bought by Gionee at a whopping sum. The new jersey has yellow shades in the bottom and is sponsored by Gionee and co-sponsored by Lux Cozi.

If Kolkata goes on to lift the title this time around, it will be the first time a team will win 3 IPL titles. It will be a historic achievement both from the team’s point of view and Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy point if they do manage to lift the coveted title on 21st May.
