Rameshchandra Tahelyani, an India-based bookie operating out of Ahmedabad was nabbed by the local police after he was reportedly taking bets for the third ODI between India and New Zealand which was played at Mohali. Reports suggest that there were six others involved with the accused all of whom have been nabbed.

India clinched a win in the third ODI against New Zealand at Mohali, something that was supremely impressive especially following the unbeaten knock from Virat Kohli. The 27-year old Indian batsman who also happens to be the skipper of the Indian Test side went on to slam a magnificent 154 whilst bringing up his 26th ODI ton.

However, in spite of this, the talk of the town was the simple fact that MS Dhoni was well and truly back to his best. He smashed 80 runs from 91 deliveries, a knock that saw him roll back the years rather significantly. However, the 35-year old has also revealed that his finishing abilities have been significantly diminished.

What was more was the fact that the Indian skipper reached the landmark of 9000 ODI runs, the highest by an Indian wicketkeeper-batsman as well as the third highest run tally in ODIs by a wicketkeeper-batsman? Adam Gilchrist and Kumar Sangakkara are the only ones ahead of him in this particular respect.

The local police at Ahmedabad went on to state that they found a Bobdi sim card along with Tahelyani when the latter was apprehended. They had also recovered six cell phones, a television set and cash from his house. The identity of the police official, however, remained confidential.

“We found that Tahelyani had acquired Bobdi sim card to know the rates from Gilli of Kubernagar who had fled after he came to know about the raids,” said a crime branch official.

“We have recovered a notebook, six cellphones, TV and cash from his house,” said a crime branch official.
