Indian skipper, Virat Kohli has been in a league of his own the past couple of years. The fragile and helpless Virat in the England tour of 2014 has gone through a remarkable reformation. Starting from scoring over 700 runs down under, to becoming the highest ever scorer in the IPL with a 900 plus run season, to becoming the only cricketer to average 50 plus in all formats, to being the only one ranked within the top 3 in all three formats, Virat the batsman has been class apart from the rest in terms of numbers.

Even Virat the captain has an extremely amicable record, having been beaten only 6 times in 42 international matches and leading his side to an unbeaten 17-match run in which he won 5 consecutive series’. Captaincy has also brought the best of Virat the batsman, with a substantial increase in average in Tests and ODIs after the responsibility was entrusted to him.

With his early success, Virat’s bradmanesque numbers as captain point to ominous signs for the oppositions in future. These exemplary achievements have led to worldwide admiration and a heap of praise for the superstar batsman. Recently, the Indian skipper was also applauded by Pakistan greats like Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar and Saqlain Mushtaq during a chat show in a Pakistani channel.

The former Pakistani cricketers hailed Kohli’s sensational batting and rapid transformation as a cricketer. Saqlain Mushtaq was especially impressed with his incredible discipline, fitness and gym regimen and eating habits.

Akhtar also praised young Indian cricketers like KL Rahul, Kedar Jadhav and Karun Nair and their passion to excel whenever given an opportunity and lamented it as the big difference between success of Team India and Pakistan.

Akram rued that none of the Pakistan cricketers come and seek suggestions from former cricketers unlike their Indian counterparts, who always look for an opportunity to spend time with legends on how to improve their game.

These envious compliments come at a time when Pakistan cricket is in the need of inspiration, after an unsuccessful New Zealand and Australia tour, because of which they find themselves in the bottom 5 teams in the ICC ODI, Test and T20I rankings. With the Champions Trophy soon to be played in England in June 2017, the former Pakistani legends will be hoping their team looks to Virat Kohli for inspiration and motivation, and the Pakistani team goes through better times.
